Equipment to be regularly maintained, PAT and visually inspected prior to use - Never use defective equipment

 

110v or battery power tools to be used where possible

 

Where 110V or Battery tools are not available, 240V tools may be used with a 30mA RCD at the point of connection to the electrical supply

 

Trailing Wires are reduced by selection of battery operated tools where applicable. Cables to be strung overhead or around the working perimeter - No trailing cables to prevent trip hazards Where there are trailing wires through a walkway then these will be covered using a cable covers.

 

Operatives who are exposed to noisy machinery/environments will be issued with ear protection with a min SNR of 20db

Tool cards will be kept with each tool identifying the PPE required and standards

 

All guards must be in place

 

When cutting materials ensure they are positioned on a level and stable surface to prevent movement.

 

Wear PPE i.e. cut resistant gloves if risk of sharp edges

 

Avoid wet materials making contact with electricity services / wiring.

 

Where required dust suppression equipment must be used.

 

Employees must inform their manager of any health condition which they consider may be being caused or made worse by their work.

 

Employees must attend Health Surveillance appointments.
