  • Driving during or following heavy snow fall.

  • Extreme cold.

  • Working in Sun.

  • Working at height during high winds.

  • Falls, Skin burns, car accidents, slips and trips.

  • Operating plant equipment in extreme weather conditions.

Take precautions when driving in extreme and snowy weather – refer to RA - POS 09.

 

Staff provided with extreme weather clothing as required.

 

Take sufficient breaks to either cool down or warm up during extremes of temperature and drink plenty of fluids.

 

Toolbox talk delivered to operatives on weather conditions

 

Do not work on surfaces which are slippery due to water, snow or ice.

 

Operatives to ensure that they are covered up as much as possible in the sun – never work with tops off.

 

Sun cream to at least SPF 30 available to operatives.

 

Always contact your supervisor before working outside during inclement and extreme weather.

Appropriate footwear to EN ISO 20345, should be worn at all times.

 

Gritting Plan to be developed to ensure that walkways and roads are gritted in icy conditions.

 

Full adherence to manufacturers operating instructions regarding use of cranes in extreme wind speeds.
