Where there is a concern about an employee's health or wellbeing, the manager may consider referring the employee to Occupational Health under the Corporate Attendance Management

  • Drivers must be fit for work and not under the influence of alcohol, drugs or prescription medication that may affect their driving.

     

  • All drivers must check company vehicles daily prior to use and complete check sheets in accordance to company policy/manufacturer’s instructions

     

  • Staff should only drive vehicles where they have the appropriate driving licence.

     

  • Mobile phone use prohibited and enforced when driving unless using a hands free kit.

     

  • Seatbelts to be worn at all times. This is to include passengers.

  • No unauthorised passengers are permitted to be transported in council vehicles.

     

  • If vehicles left unattended then keys should be removed and vehicle secured.

     

  • All defects on council vehicles reported immediately

     

  • Staff should not eat or drink when driving.

     

  • Mobile devices including mobile phones and sat navs should not be positioned on the windscreen. They should be positioned on the Dashboard or attached to an air vent using a propriety holder.

     

  • Mobile devices should not be used when refuelling.

Highway Code and any fines or prosecutions resulting from not following the code will be the sole responsibility of the driver at the time.

 

  • No smoking to be adhered to whilst driving. No smoking in any council vehicle.

     

  • All incidents reported via an incident report form (IR1).

     

  • Information relating to specific vehicle types is contained in the Vehicle Instruction Manual in the glove compartment of the vehicle.

     

  • Should the driver encounter any damage or defect then the driver must complete a vehicle defect report and inform their line manager

     

  • All drivers are responsible for keeping the vehicle clean and tidy.
