Table 1:

Situation:

PPE Requirement:

Additional Requirements/Comments:

In a household where no one has symptoms.

No PPE required in addition to what you usually use, however, good hygiene practices must be maintained.

Non required.

In a household where someone is self isolating.

Maintain 2M distance between you and household members

If you unable to maintain 2m separation wear RPE and disposable gloves provided by your employer.

In a household with a possible

or confirmed case of Coronavirus.

Wear RPE and disposable gloves provided by your employer.

You must not put yourself in a situation where you are likely

to be splashed by an infected person. If in doubt stop work and contact your supervisor/manager.

Caring for patients in areas where high risk aerosol generating procedures are being performed.

FFP3 masks to be used.

When using a FFP3 mask that you have not been face fitted and trained to use you, may not be afforded the correct level of protection.

Where there is close contact (within 1 metre) with a patient who has or is suspected of having Covid-19 or working in a potentially contaminated

area cleaning surfaces/equipment.

Surgical masks to be used.

Face fitting is not required for surgical masks however staff must be shown how to put the mask on, carry out a pre-use check, and instructed on how to dispose the mask. (additional information is available through the health and safety team).

Additional Notes: According to World Health Organisation (WHO), wearing a mask in situations where it is not recommended to do so can create a false sense of security because it might lead to neglecting fundamental hygiene measures, such as proper hand hygiene.
