Do

  • Ensure you are authorised to place items in the skip.

  • Segregate any items that you are unsure of loading and ask for confirmation.

  • Ensure correct PPE is worn during loading.

  • Load small, light and fragile items at the bottom of the skip and larger, heavier items at the top.

  • Break up any items that can be made smaller prior to loading.

  • Ensure that your skip weight does not exceed the maximum permissible weight.

  • If you have to manually fill a skip with an object. Assess the load before lifting (Size, Weight and Shape) before attempting to lift any object. Follow your manual Handling training techniques.

Do Not

Load the following prohibited items:

  • Fridges / freezers

  • Microwaves

  • Televisions

  • Telephones

  • Printers

  • Any Petrol, Oil & Lubricants (POL)

  • Paints

  • Aerosols

  • Medical waste

  • Solvents or chemicals

  • Batteries

  • Tyres

  • Plaster board

  • Compressed gas cylinders

Overload the skip above the max fill line as indicated on the skip (Height of skip walls).

Specific Training Requirements:

Appropriate plant operator ticket. Current driving license for class of vehicle, where necessary (See over for specific requirements)
