Do

  • Check the physical condition of the cargo prior to loading/handling. If there is any doubt then bring it to the attention of a Cargo Team Leader.

  • Ensure that the roller shutter doors to/from the sheds are either fully open or fully closed.

  • Ensure that mast is vertical when lifting stacked loads.

  • Sound horn when entering or leaving buildings / storage areas.

  • Travel in reverse if vision is impaired by the load.

  • Keep working area clear of debris at all times.

  • When placing into storage position, leave adequate room either side of cargo to allow access of IFLT.

  • Face direction of travel at all times.

  • Ensure that container access ramp chocked and chained in place prior to using.

  • Ensure that all limbs are clear of the pinch point when lowering ramp hydraulics onto the container.

Do Not

Attempt to load the trailer without the driver being in attendance and overseeing the operation.

Attempt to load the rear half of the trailer until the driver has moved the curtain to the front end of the trailer.

Operate any plant equipment that you do not hold a valid certificate of competency for.

Block fire escapes within the cargo storage areas.

Drag the cargo along the floor when placing in the stacks.

Specific Training Requirements:

  • Basic Training - through an accredited training provider training to the standards outlined in the L117 ACOP.

  • Specific job training - tailored to the needs of the organisation.

  • Familiarisation training - Familiarisation training is the third stage of training, which should be carried out on the job, under close supervision, by someone with appropriate knowledge and

experience.
