Do

  • Inform Port Security of any movement of large plant to allow traffic to be pre-warned.

  • Ensure that you have a traffic control marshal allocated prior to move.

  • Always walk ahead of the crane to allow maximum vision of any potential hazards.

  • Complete a full pre-use check of the vehicle prior to any movement.

Do Not

Walk backwards at any time whilst travelling the vehicle.

Allow vehicles to pass the crane unless the opposite flow has been stopped at a safe passing point.

Specific Training Requirements:

  • Basic Training - through an accredited training provider training to the standards outlined in the L117 ACOP.

  • Specific job training - tailored to the needs of the organisation.

  • Familiarisation training - Familiarisation training is the third stage of training, which should be carried out on the job, under close supervision, by

someone with appropriate knowledge and experience.
