Do

  • Conduct pre-use checks on all lifting appliances to be used during the lifting operation. This includes the basket itself, strops, chains and shackles etc.

  • Ensure that the man riding equipment has been inspected within the last six months. (sticker or notification on the equipment with the next inspection date due)

  • Ensure that those riding in the cage have a firm hand hold prior to lifting.

  • Take extra care as the crane operator to ensure smooth operation when carrying personnel.

  • Ensure that the working area is clear of personnel and cargo before landing the cage.

  • Sterilise hands as soon as possible after touching communal equipment.

Do Not

Exceed the SWL of the cage/ man rider (2 per max) and encroach into another’s social distancing space.

Lift the cage until confirmation that the cage access panel has been closed.

Operate the crane erratically.

Specific Training Requirements:

  • Basic Training - through an accredited training provider training to the standards outlined in the L117 ACOP.

  • Specific job training - tailored to the needs of the organisation.

  • Familiarisation training - Familiarisation training is the third stage of training, which should be carried

out on the job, under close supervision, by someone with appropriate knowledge.
