Personal Protective Equipment

  • Injury whilst dismounting vehicle on weigh bridge.

  • Moving Vehicles

  • Weather Conditions

  • Lower limb injury

  • Collision with personnel

  • Collision with other vehicles/equipment

 

Do

  • Stop the vehicle prior to entering the weigh bridge. (Pre and post discharge of load).

  • Exit the vehicle once you have ensured that it is safe to do so whilst maintaining 3 points of contact throughout.

  • Hand paperwork to the weigh bridge operative.

  • Re-enter vehicle as exited.

  • Drive onto the weigh bridge and stay in vehicle.

  • Wait to be given authority to drive off the weigh bridge and tip load.

  • Repeat the procedure once unloaded.

Do Not

Exit the vehicle once on the weigh bridge.

Specific Training Requirements:

  • Basic Training - through an accredited training provider training to the standards outlined in the L117 ACOP.

  • Specific job training - tailored to the needs of the organisation.

  • Familiarisation training - Familiarisation training is the third stage of training, which should be carried out on the job, under close supervision, by someone with appropriate knowledge.
